History?
[edit]Useful would be a section describing the first known applications of the method, and the first time that people recognized it as an actual "method" rather than an isolated argument. Oded (talk) 17:43, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
What method?
[edit]This article never actually states what the second moment method is. It gives an example, and the method must be part of what appears within that section. But which part? Obviously the statement of the general method has to be simpler than what's in that section. Michael Hardy (talk) 23:33, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not even sure how well-defined this method is: from quick Googling, the second-moment method seems to be an umbrella term for something that uses the second moment in any way. I'll update the article when/if I get around to reading about it. Shreevatsa (talk) 00:51, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
